Meditation to face change with serenity

Meditación para afrontar el cambio

A job change, a move, a relationship ending or beginning. None of these things give enough warning to fully prepare, and yet you still have to keep going while the ground shifts a little.

Does this sound familiar? Change is constant, even if we try to resist it: our bodies, relationships, priorities—everything transforms. Meditation doesn't stop this movement, but it offers a space to navigate it with a bit more serenity.

Why is change so difficult for us?

We like predictability, and change introduces precisely the opposite: uncertainty. It's normal for this to trigger some unease. Meditation doesn't eliminate that feeling, but it trains the ability to observe it without being completely swept away by it—it creates a small space between what you feel and how you react.

Meditative practice for times of change

Sit in a comfortable position. Close your eyes. Focus your attention on your breath for 5 minutes without trying to change it. When thoughts arise about the change you are experiencing, observe them like passing clouds—without judging or holding onto them. End with a positive intention for the day.

If you want to better understand the theoretical framework that supports this practice, you can consult our A complete guide to learning meditation and mindfulness, where we develop the fundamentals and different techniques to get started.
